Happy Birthday Sis

Wanted to say it, even if you can't read it yet.
Many Happy Returns
Love and hugs from all of us here.

I took this picture just over a year ago.
Somebody had disfigured the zebra crossing signs here in town.
All the "male" walking figures turned into "female" walking figures overnight.
There was a terrible fuss about it.
It's a against the law to deface public property.
To do it to road signs was particularly irresponsible as it could distract drivers.
The signs were restored to thier original "male" form as fast as possible.
I hadn't even seen the original sign as "masculine". To me it was just a human form.
All this in Sweden where equality between the sexes is seen almost as a part of the national heritage.
Sometimes it seems to me that things are as equally unequal here as in many other places.

Even this one has been defaced/beautified.
She doesn't usually carry flowers.
Long live diversity.

We are all born in different circumstances with different minds, bodies, potentials and opportunities. There is no chance whatsoever of any of us achieving or receiving equality.......

- WITHOUT LOVE -

For love will ensure we care about the well-being of others and protest gently, wittily, irresistibly and ceaselessly against inequalities.

Sounds sound to me.
I liked the gentle way this protest was made. The council would defrock the figures and then some anonymous person would robe and bag them again.
They have stopped doing it now as the council threatened to prosecute, but t-shirts were printed up with the skirted sign on, so she is still striding the streets. Our cross-dresser hasn't given up.

My naughty son once took a 'Welcomt to ------' road sign and kept it in his room at University. He is now quite respectable! I wonder if his children know. Aha!

Traffic signs etc are apparently very popular. I knew someone who had some traffic lights in their room. And every year here in Sweden warning signs for elk go missing, although it's usually German tourists that get the blame, rather than English university students.
