Every day of the year here has a person's first name associated with it. I normally manage to forget which day is whose, but this one I wasn't allowed to forget and a special cake had to be purchased on the previous day (I don't bake, at least not during term time if I can help it). We were all woken up at 6.15 to celebrate with coffee and raspberry and blueberry cream cake.

Helmets!
The way I drive, my children need helmets on in the car too.
This was filmed last weekend on our way out to the farm.
It's not for the faint-hearted.

Our claim to frame
Inspired by Four Dinners, on the way home after Christmas we spent a night in an old hotel. On the wall by the lift they had a list of famous people who had stayed there. You'll have to click on the picture to read them, sorry, even then with difficulty, but I may have slept in the same bed as Johnny Weissmuller or Floyd Patterson. I hope they'd changed the sheets.

Makeshift angel
Taken the same day that we took the train south, the Friday before Christmas, at Strawberry's nativity play. Mummy didn't have time to go and buy wings, nor did she want to waste money, so cardboard, masking tape and sewing cotton were put to good use and 10 minutes later she had wings, which looked, from the back of the church, like a perfectly good pair of wings.

We're back!
I will now try to resume a more normal service after a twenty day blogging break.
King Canute declared a twenty day holiday for all at Christmas. King of England, Denmark, Norway and parts of Sweden, I have done my best to follow in his wake through Denmark across the North Sea and back again, resting and holidaying on the way.
All I have to do now is catch up.
Above is the Danish vessel that rolled us merrily across the deep blue sea.
